Heins, Jr., son of the founder, proudly served in the U.S. Army. At the end of the war, A.G. Heins, Jr. returned to work at the company. Along with long time loyal employee, Ruth L. Love, the company prospered during the Baby Boomer years of the 50s, 60s, and 70s. At the beginning of the 80s, A.G. Heins, Jr's' son Albert Gordon Heins III, a registered architect in the State of Tennessee, joined the family business.

Mr. Heins, began his sales career on horseback for the Philip Carey Manufacturing Company and decided to open his business at the beginning of the "Roaring Twenties." Through Mr. Heins' leadership, the company survived the Great Depression of 1929 and was able to pay off all debts to the Hamilton National Bank of Knoxville.

I called and got transferred around the store to a young man that seemed to have an attitude of lethargic disappointment in taking my call. I asked the gentleman a couple of simple questions about a product I really like and that I have bought from them in the past. That is when his air of ennui became most apparent. I told him since he didn't seem to know anything and didn't seem to want to help me with an answer that I would call the manufacturer myself, to which he mumbled, "yeh, I guess you can find the number." And with that, I politely ended our call. Hopefully, he can catch up on his nap and be more prepared for the next client. I did give them two stars for having a pulse and taking my call.
