Fort Collins' premier residential contractor was born in Connecticut and moved to Fort Collins in the late 1970s. Al is a skier and is a big fan of Colorado's natural beauty. He found Fort Collins to be the perfect town to raise his family and is very proud to live here. Al has watched Fort Collins grow from a small college town into the current city it is today.

Al and his team finished our basement. He handled everything from design/permitting through construction. Based on our experience, I'd recommend him for any project. Very responsive, extremely professional, finished on time and on budget. We bid out our basement to 3 different contractors and Al was by far the most reasonably priced. He also finished within the quoted time. We were very happy with how the project turned out. The basement is awesome! Will be calling him for our next project for sure.

Thus guy is just looking for cake and doesn't lift a finger. He's just going to contract the work out to others and pocket the difference. Dude literally and rudely told me "i only want to do full basement finishes im not interested in only doing the framing".well sorry dude i can do the rest myself. Not interested?!? Diva you are in the wrong field. Just a complete idiot from the get go. He fumbled around with his phone for like 20 seconds before muttering a weak and squeaky hello.

Al did a great job for us: got started right away, worked with multiple design ideas, did everything to code, responded quickly and clearly, and hardly disrupted our routine at all. Leroy the framer was highly efficient and friendly. Our questions and concerns were all addressed throughout the process. We had a few other bids, too, and Al Kulenski was the most affordable. Glad to have discovered him.

I needed an after-the-fact basement permit on my home and I called Al. He was very professional. He went through the whole process of getting a permit. He worked with the Fort Collins city inspector to make the changes required to get the basement up to current code standards. I was very grateful for the timely & professional help, and would recommend him.
He was worth every penny, and sets the standards high for contract workers. He always answers the phone. Make sure you avoid texting if a back-and-forth is required - he's old school :

We asked Al to convert our one car attached garage into an extra living space with a 3/4 bathroom. He quoted us and then started the project as soon as the permits were approved. Our project was not a conventional one, but Al understood our vision and did everything to make it happen at a quality higher than we could ever have hoped for. We love our remodel!

We sub-contracted Al to complete a simple project that we brokered for him. Al was rude to our team from the very beginning, left 5 minutes into an hour long meeting before the client even told him what she wanted in the product, and then proceeded to string us along with the proposal/bid for two weeks before he e-mailed me that he refused to work on the project without giving a reason. This is a guy that fails to communicate and does not stand by his word. Highly recommend going with someone else if at all possible.
