I've had 3 other homes built and this is by far the worst I've ever encountered. We signed the paperwork in January, it's Nov now and still have not completed the house. Was given the run around over and over and lied to by the superintendent Chris. No communication, using cheap labor, wrote a list of thing that needed attention to and was told to wait until the final walk through. Was told in July by the superintendent that the house would be 100% complete by August.

Then again in Sept. We sold our old house on the dates given to us by the superintendent. We had to get an extension from the buyers to stay in the house 10 more days. Then had to move in with family. It's been the most stressful home I've ever built. The inspector I hired said it's the worst craftsmanship he's ever seen. We are still waiting on the Clear to Occupy right now! Benchmark sent a potential buyer to our house since it was the same floor plan he was looking at and he immediately said No Way!

When pointing out the issues and errors it was always and excuse from the Superintendent. We told them not to install mirrors in both our bathrooms and they did anyway and we even reminded the superintendent 2 other times. They had to pull them both off and they left 9 huge nasty holes in each bathroom that took forever to repair and patch and then texture and paint.

It's been 1 thing after another! If we could get our money back and let Benchmark sell it we would do it in a heart beat. I emailed the owner with pictures and videos and did not get a response! Every contractor except the Electricians we're drinking heavily daily! Modela bottles Corona bottles, Bud Light cans all over the place every day! I have so many pictures to validate my claims.

Poor quality construction and workmanship. Calling the customer service poor is an understatement. From the beginning we had issues getting calls returned or obtaining information. This should have been an obvious red flag, but we avoided our instincts and have sorely regretted it since. Benchmark obviously does not stand behind their product based on my experience thus far.

They are not concerned with you as a customer. Once you've closed, good luck getting anything fixed. The "Superintendent" is an excuse machine from walkthrough to present day. The "warranty" department will provide you with vague generalizations and open ended time frames. If you're considering Benchmark, just toss your money out the window, it would be much more efficient.

Your closing will likely be delayed because they forgot to submit something, or do something, or just simply needed a day off. These are primarily guesses on my part because we were told nothing. We never were provided insight on the revolving closing date, until the 11th hour on the 3rd scheduled closing date. Eventually we found out our initial date passed because the COO was not submitted properly, and then the house failed inspection.

Our closing was repeatedly delayed and their solution was for us to wait it out or walk, they didn't care. I would not recommend purchasing from them unless every other home in the area is sold.

Critical: Professionalism, Quality Won't help with an issue that they installed improperly. Was told tough luck!

Totally agree with the review posted by Gary. Purchasing a home built by Benchmark would NOT be in your best interest! Unless you would like a huge headache by no one that cares from the GET GO. This was the first home that I've purchased in the area and I definitely won't buy another from this company. I had no clue what I was in for, but if I could save someone else the devastation, DO NOT DO IT!

A BRAND NEW HOME with NUMEROUS issues one could not even make up, all of which is a result from the obvious lack of pride and quality in their work. I am going to refrain from posting a book of a review and what energy I do have left and just say DO NOT purchase a home from Benchmark. Throw your money on the ground and walk away. Better yet, donate it to a good cause so you can at least feel good about the choice that you have made.

I do hope someone takes these reviews seriously in their consideration when purchasing a home. Once I actually thought things were going to get taken care of, little did I know that this headache is never ending! From Sheetrock seams present all over the house, to plumbing leaks, window leaks, wall bulges, fraying and dented doors, and the list goes on.all I've gotten is excuses as to why things are this way in order to get me to believe that these mishaps are ok and normal in a brand new home! NOT the case!

I've owned a brand new home previously in a different area and still to this day, 9 years later, I would make a bet you still could not find this type of work in that home. If you have not gotten the message yet, you should by now! However, let me add that NONE of this was able to be seen prior to moving in. So do yourself a favor upfront and do not even go this route, because 3 months of living in the house and things are only getting worse.

I've lived in my home for 16 years, I even stayed during hurricane Ivan and being 10 miles from the beach that wasn't wise but my house stood proud, only lost, a few tree limbs.

Choose Benchmark Homes only if a) you don't care about the appearance of your home, b) you don't mind having unlevel floors and ceilings, c) you don't mind paying for upgrades that can't be professionally installed, d) you don't mind having woodwork done with the precision of a circus monkey, and e) you don't mind dealing with people who acknowledge that a problem exists but fail to take any action to correct it.

In the most exposed area of my home, the kitchen, the crown molding, for which I paid an upgrade fee, is falling down. This, by the way, is the replacement work. The first installed crown molding did the same thing (started falling apart) within six months after I moved in. The "replacement" took so long that the one year warranty had expired. I complained about this in February, when my house was approximately 14 months old, and the superintendent came to my house to view the problem.

He said that the ceiling was unlevel and that this was causing the problem. He asked what days worked for me and said he would send some of his crew, which was working out of town at the moment, to fix the problem. It's almost August, and I have yet to hear another word from the superintendent to schedule a repair. Since I am beyond the period covered by the 2-10 home warranty, which is basically garbage anyway and only designed to protect the builder from litigation, I am stuck with the burden of correcting Benchmark's faulty work. Choosing Benchmark Homes is one of the biggest regrets in my life. Buyers beware!

Yes I own a benchmark home and they are building one across the road and my mailbox was hit Monday and just so happens they are pouring a concrete driveway the same day across the road and there customer service said they wasn't responsible because I didn't see them hit it very bad Customer Service
