Blue Brook Architecture Blue Brook Architecture, Inc. is dedicated to designing efficient, affordable, sustainable buildings reflecting the unique character of our client and their site. In our opinion, global warming is the most serious threat facing humanity today. Green building, including energy efficient construction, is one of the most significant things we can do to reduce this threat.

While most green building measures cost additional money, one of the most powerful tools is efficient design by an experienced architect, allowing a building to be smaller while still accomplishing its purpose, which is something we excel at.

1. Efficient use of space. Part of reducing a building's impact on the environment involves making it no larger than it needs to be. The smaller building is, the less heat it loses or gains, reducing energy use. The smaller it is, the less "embodied energy" (energy required to create, manufacture, transport, and install a building material) is invested in a building.
Your first question may be "Why don't I just design it myself using Chief Architect or other 3-D CAD software?" 3-D CAD is a powerful tool in capable hands, just as Microsoft Word will allow a skilled author to write a book faster and better than they could on a typewriter, but it won't turn a bad writer into a good one.
Every design problem has an infinite number of possible solutions. At Blue Brook Architecture, unlike most architects, we don't just present you with a single solution and say "Here it is!" For us, the initial phase of design is a process of exploration. We typically do a minimum of three initial design approaches (called "schemes") and a maximum of five.
