Caldwell, Heckles & Eagan With over thirty years of experience, CH&E provides general contracting, design/build and construction management services to ecclesiastical, commercial, institutional, housing, historical and residential clients. The Dauphin County Public Library System has engaged CH&E to manage the additions and renovations to their existing McCormick Riverfront Library, on Front street in Harrisburg. This project also includes renovations to the adjacent historic Haldeman Mansion, owned by the library. See the photos below which captured the special day.
Services
CH&E began over thirty years ago as a general contracting and construction company, formed by three good friends: John Caldwell, Jack Heckles and Peter Egan. In 1985, the Lancaster-based company was incorporated. Today, CH&E has 70 full time employees--including our own crew of masons and finish carpenters, and a concrete crew.
CH&E has a wide array of expertise in completing projects of varied nature and type. This ability to adapt to the different needs posed by different projects has been crucial to our growth and development as an accomplished firm, capable of technical construction projects no matter what the scope. From humble beginnings in residential work, CH&E has moved on to tackle even the most esoteric projects like dam construction, and facade preservation.
For a variety of reasons, design/build is the right choice for many owners. This service utilizes a start-to-finish building contract that includes project planning, design, permits, site development and all phases of construction. One of the key advantages of using the design/build approach is that CH&E becomes the client's single-source of accountability.
The procedure for keeping design/engineering aspects of construction separate from the builder/manager functions is a seasoned arrangement that has proven to be reasonable and viable. This particular approach requires the client to first retain the services of an architect to draw plans and produce specifications.
