Terrible experience with this company and Markus Weber in particular. He basically took my money of almost $2k for a hideous mood board. I realized I was not dealing with top notch talent or a scrupulous business owner. I learned my lesson the hard way and ended up hiring a real design firm with fantastic results! Stay away!

As of today, March 10, 2020, I have emailed/called Decor Aid at least 10 times and no one responds. No one answers the NYC number listed on the website--no message, no voicemail.nothing. Just rings, redirects, rings again, then disconnects. A bad sign for sure. If they are still in business, this lack of communication and attention to detail is a black mark on their brand.

We recently used Decor Aid to help us decorate our 3BR apartment. The service they offer relieved us of so much stress in conceptualizing and picking out the right furniture for our place. We are so happy with the results and would use them again in the future. The highlights for us were: partnering with our amazing designer Claire, the flexibility in finding the right items for our space (replacing items that didn't work), and working with purchasing to have everything ordered and delivered for us.

I've been trying to contact Decor Aid for 2 weeks to no avail. No one answers the phone nor do they answer the submission through the contact form on their website. Starting to think it isn't a legitimate company.

STAY AWAY. I waited a while to write this review since I wanted to let my anger abate and I was busy with other things. But months later I feel a moral obligation to warn people about this company. If like me, you will likely read the reviews and the owner's responses and suspect that they are a good company and that the bad reviews are just from impossible people.

But they quell the bad reviews with small payouts and gag orders (see the photo). They use contract workers who may or may not be able to get the job done. The discounts they promise never come true. In fact they quoted more than I would pay as a regular retail customer, for every single item I asked them about. (notice that they don't list the specifics of their discounts on their website.) When asked to come through on what they promise, they are unhelpful at best and often nasty (read the owner's comments on bad reviews to get a taste).

When your project has gone on way too long, they haven't come through on any promises and you are at wits end, they may offer you a small sum to not write a bad review. I suspect that many of us, on modest budgets, take the money just to cut some of our losses. Before you get taken in by the good reviews and the pretty pictures, read the reviews again.

Notice there are almost no reviews in the middle, only really bad and really glowing ones. The good ones all start to sound the same. Go to a website where employees write reviews and note that many say the company writes their own good reviews. See that gag order and think of how many people they silenced. I am out a lot of money and hope this review saves someone else.

I hired Decor Aid to revamp my living room and dining room as I had no idea where to start and how to make it feel contemporary without having to go through a complete renovation. My designer Elle was really fun to work with, and made the entire project feel easy and stress free. Now I can imagine she had her own dilemmas with our home, but she never let me know and was always on top of everything and hyper organized.

And the discounts we received on furniture and painters really helped justify the extra cost of bringing someone in. I'm really impressed with the services the company offers, and how everything was no-nonsense.

I am really happy that my mom recommended Decor Aid to me after I bought my first apartment in San Francisco as she knew I was short on time, design ideas, and would frankly be living out of suitcases for months on end. My designer Nina came up with some really smart space saving ideas, and my place looks unbelievable. I can't wait til my mom comes into town! I've been recommending Decor Aid to everyone and would hire them again. Great team and great services!

I really loved the experience of working with Decor Aid! They made the process fairly straightforward, answered all of our questions, hired very skilled professionals, and handled a few odd mishaps with grace and ease! Our designer, Jenna, was a saint. It's my first time relinquishing control of my space and I was nervous. But it was the best decision!

Her eye is fantastic. She took indecision on my spouses part with stride. And the end result is both polished and cozy. Feels like us! Which was my biggest fear in hiring someone to match our taste. It was a small project and I wish we could afford their help on the whole apartment. I would recommend this experience to anyone who is curious if having a designer might make life a little bit less stressful! It was a win win win in our house!

Our home was completed mid-summer and I'm still highly impressed by the team at Decor Aid and my interior designer Sonia. Collaborating with them was the best route for my home as they handled every aspect of the project for me and did so with extreme professionalism. I'm really proud of my home and would suggest Decor Aid to those who need someone to completely take over with confidence, as there was nothing I had to second guess or manage myself.

I want to thank the Decor Aid team for their recent interior design work in our Toronto condo. We were on a tight deadline, and after interviewing several firms, I felt confident Decor Aid understood our vision and aesthetic. Other design agencies wanted an upfront paid consultation prior to any conversation, but Marcus was able to answer my questions and concerns before we committed to their proposal.

I tasked the Decor Aid team with a modest budget and tight timeline, and they stepped up. Their communication was on point, and they were able to quickly adapt to the various project challenges that arose - always consummate professionals. My wife and I are absolutely delighted with the finished project - a big thank you to Nolwen - and the Purchasing team (Sunil) who was available every step of the way. I look forward to working with Decor Aid on future projects and wouldn't hesitate to recommend their services.

I grew up with a mother who loved decorating her entire life and though it rubbed off on me a great deal and I've collected a slew of mid-century scores over the years, my husband and I found ourselves seriously short on time in decorating our new home before our first son arrived. With less than 2 months to go before my due date, and 1,800 more sq ft than we've ever had to fill, we needed bold ideas fast and I needed to concentrate on prepping for welcoming Baby.

I also had no idea on how to go about decorating a nursery. After many deliberations and consultations, my husband and I decided to go with Nina from Decor Aid because we liked the services they offer and her spirit best. And we are both happy we did. Nina took furnishings from our collection and placed them in fresh ways that had never even crossed my mind and brought in some great finds that didn't over extend our budget whatsoever.

Even though Baby came almost a week earlier, our home was complete and ready to go and we were so grateful to bring him into his first home without anything left to be done. If you're looking for a Chicagoland interior designer I highly recommend Decor Aid and will go back to them anytime we need anything else done.

I'm not one to often leave reviews but I had to take a moment and share my experience with Decor Aid. I had just moved into a new bungalow in Loz Feliz that's the largest home I've ever had and I had no clue on what to do from room to room, I just knew that I wanted something that was unique and not like everyone else's mid-century modern homes.

My designer quickly created inspiring moodboards and introduced me to transitional aesthetics and I love the results. My home is rich and layered and stands out among predictable L.A style. And the service was excellent and really fun. Everything was centered around me and not a designer's diva moments. I would hire them again and again and am so happy I did my research and found Decor Aid. If you want a truly personal touch in your home, I couldn't recommend anyone better!

I would strongly advise against using Decor Aid. I had a very bad experience, resulting in a half-finished project that I do not trust them to complete in a satisfactory manner. Over the course of a year, I had to work with 3 separate designers because 2 of them quit the company, which caused huge delays in my project. The first time, the company never even called me to let me know.

It was only after months of emails and phone calls did I find out he had left and they realized they needed to assign someone else to work with me. He also left after a month. When I finally was paired with a proactive, responsive designer, things initially were going well but we eventually ran into issues with cost. Despite having voiced wanting to be conservative on cost, I kept on being shown very high cost items (if I'm not willing to spend $4,000 on a dresser, do you think I will be interested in spending $6,000 on two cube custom upholstered ottomans?) Finally, they misrepresented some of the pieces to me.

They rendered an $1,800 table in the living room like it would be a small side table between two chairs. The table arrived and it was a completely different size that was not appropriate at all for the space( see pictures). When I asked about it, I was told it looks nice in the space elsewhere and that was it- returning it would be on me including the 25% restocking fee and shipping. All in all, not an experience I would recommend for anyone.

My first time using my own decorator, designer Mandy and the team at Decor Aid made my experience so unlike what I remember my parents going through. Mandy was professional, had zero attitude, and had a great eye and decorating ideas that had never even crossed my mind for my small apartment. Having recently purchased the place, I wanted to start from scratch, but I am not a fan of everything looking brand new.

I like a mix of modern mixed with French antiques, pieces with character - an aesthetic that takes a very particular person to make work. Mandy worked with my core tastes and expanded on them, she did not dictate what she thought it should like without me. She took care of everything and worked with a contractor and painter to re-do the kitchen and bathroom and I have to say, the kitchen is so sleek and incredible, it looks like an art gallery! Mandy made the space look bigger by finding furniture that had glass tops, and was smart to recommend objects that are easily movable.

And there was no mystery behind any of the fees and prices on furniture and objects I got. I remember my parents would be up-charged for furniture to the point that it was a joke by their decorator. In fact, I saved money by using Decor Aid as I got industry discounts on almost everything. DecorAid really impressed me and I hope to be able use them again in the future and have toId everyone who comes over about them. I'll even use them every time I simply need a contractor since every service they offer comes with a project manager.

What a great find! Diana and the team at Decor Aid provided outstanding service that truly beat our expectations. We were struggling with the design ourselves for 6 months and honestly were tired of looking at another furniture site. We hired Decor Aid half way through the project and what a difference it makes to hire a professional. The team were able to finish it within weeks and the space looks stunning. Can't recommend them enough.

After our youngest left for college Dan and I were left with extra space and a home that no longer needed to be kid friendly. So I turned to Decor Aid after a friend who had used them twice recommended their services to fix up our home. Our house looks amazing, but not too formal. Our decorator Claire was friendly, professional and really knew how to make the most out of what we already had. I love how they've taken the pretentiousness out of interior design and would suggest their services to anyone.

My experience with Decor Aid was eerily similar to that of another recent reviewer. Like the other reviewer, our designer was also terminated, and I, too, only found out after weeks of unreturned calls and emails. I, too, was verbally abused and disparaged by the CEO and lied to by the staff. I, too, had only been sent partial plans and incomplete details, and our renovation has been delayed as a result.

Read on for details. Like the other reviewer, everything was going well at first. Markus Weber, one of the founders, and the designer, who I liked a lot, estimated "Phase 1" (pre-renovation planning and design) would take 60 hours to complete. I purchased 20 hours to start. The designer came up with a few pretty good general concepts for the kitchen and bath, had some interesting partial layout ideas and comments to our architect's plans, and for the most part, responded to my emails and questions.

I purchased another 20 hours, at which point everything changed. The designer was suddenly spread VERY thin, and was notably less responsive. When she did respond, it was usually to tell me she was planning to respond soon. I received one partial kitchen board and a revised bathroom board during this time. Shortly thereafter, communications stopped completely.

After weeks of unanswered emails and calls, I called again and spoke to Sean Juneji, the other founder, who finally told me the designer was no longer with the company. I was not pleased that I had to call Decor Aid to learn about the designer. Based on what I'd received from the designer to date, and that roughly 2/3rds of Phase 1 was still not complete, I estimated the designer spent (at most) 22-23 hours total on my project.

I paid for 40 hours. I asked Sean for documentation showing which tasks were completed and time each task took (which Markus had promised to provide me upon request as a condition to me agreeing to hire them in the first place). I expected a refund for any services not rendered. Sean said it would take a few days to compile. The documentation was never provided.

A week later, Sean and Markus sent a chain of emails between the designer and me, which they had pasted into a single document. It did not have any tasks or hourly information. According to Sean, based on those emails, the designer had done "substantial work" in addition to what was in the proposal, she spent 40 hours on the project, and, therefore, they would not issue me a partial refund. However, the majority of emails they claimed were "additional work" were actually questions FROM ME to the designer, most of which were never answered. Sean had no response to this, nor did he have a response when I asked why, even assuming so-called "additional work" was done, no one notified me that I would be charged extra.

I again asked for details on the hours spent on each task, including further explanation of the so-called additional work, and for clarification on how they got to 40 hours. They refused to provide this information. To make matters worse, Markus and Sean (mainly Markus) have quite the tempers. Markus ridiculed me and made snarky comments rooted in personal attacks, especially when they did not have answers to my questions.

I was stunned. Sean threatened to sue me if I posted a negative review. Sean's only proposed solution was that I purchase another 20 hours to complete Phase 1. After being treated the way I was, and having already paid thousands of dollars for services that were not rendered, the idea of paying Decor Aid thousands more was hardly a reasonable solution.

The way this was handled by Decor Aid is pretty unbelievable. Renovating is stressful enough without being bullied by a design company. At one point, Sean said he and Markus had left lucrative jobs on Wall Street to start Decor Aid, so they "shouldn't have to lose money" because of this. I find that incredibly ironic. Had someone just bothered to promptly pick up the phone, explain the circumstances, apologize for the inconvenience, assure me they won't miss a beat and propose a plan to get back on track immediately--not to mention treat me with some respect--this probably would have turned out differently. In any event, I'm quite certain I'm the only one who lost money because of this.

I'm not one to write reviews, but once again, very impressed with Decor Aid! I had the pleasure of working with the team in my NYC apartment years ago and now most recently at my house in Long Island. We have now completed both small and large projects and no matter the size, they have always been professional and much more affordable than others I spoke to.

It was also nice to hear my wife tell me she felt very comfortable with them being I work a lot and am not always home. They have had some great ideas that I would never have thought of and for my coastal great room, they nailed it! I would def recommend to others.

My husband and I moved to Brooklyn from San Francisco and needed help finding the right sized furniture for our tiny space. We also hadn't bought a real piece of furniture since getting married 2 years prior and wanted help blending our styles. We worked with Lori and could not have been happier with the final result. She was able to find the perfect pieces to match our desire for a Brooklyn chic apartment. Would highly recommend the lovely team at Decor Aid anytime anyone asks me for an interior designer recommendation.

These guys rock. We used them to pick new outdoor furniture and we liked what they did so much we had them re-do our kitchen and bathroom as well. They took care of everything including finding qualified contractors, drawing up plans, ensuring the contractor was on-track (and getting him back on track when things slipped near the end), and putting on finishing touches.

They took care of all the ordering and purchasing and working on our schedule to get everything installed. I really like how they don't add commissions to purchases - you are paying them by the hour so they're not incentivized to find expensive items to add to their cut. Amanda, our designer, was very receptive to our design ideas and suggested lots of ideas and worked with us to make a perfect design.

She paid attention to what we already had, asked what we liked and what we didn't, and always kept an eye on our budget to ensure we got good value for our money. We definitely got a lot more value than what we paid for. I whole-heartedly recommend DecorAid and would not hesitate to use them again.

After a horrible experience with another "design" firm, I was recommended Decor Aid by a friend. A few months later my apartment was featured in Apartment Therapy! It was a very rich experience. From the CEO personally taking my calls, to the talented designer (who previously worked as a celebrity designer - she would have cost more than my savings). Everyone was extremely courteous and a pleasure to work with. My place looks amazing. I love spending time there and I highly recommend Decor Aid.

I had a fantastic experience with Decor Aid! We hired them to renovate our 3 BR apartment that needed a lot of TLC. They were super professional yet friendly and accessible and took the time to get to know everyone in our family to design a space that reflected our personality and worked with ourlifestyle. They were on time and on budget-which alone is a reason to use them.

Plus the discounts on furniture saved us a ton of money. They found us the best deals along but also found artisan pieces we would never have found on our own. Loved them, have recommended to everyone!

I've been working with Decor Aid for about a year. From the designers to the purchasing agents, the entire team has been a joy to work with. They are organized, efficient, and have a true understanding of the furniture industry. Their designs are timeless and I can't wait to see this company grow! Highly recommend this team.

We are extremely happy that we hired Decor Aid to help us with our new apartment, even before we moved in. The designers were organized, professional and courteous. They helped us with the paint selection, lighting, furniture and the purchasing. The best part was the turnaround time, it was all done within a month and the furniture starting arriving a couple of weeks after we settled in. Even though we were tight on time and budget, Decor Aid made it happen. They give affordable interior design a complete new meaning. Highly recommend them.
