Do not use this company! My family designed a home and started building with them in October 2020 they broke ground, it is still not finished! They have had over 10 project managers none of home communicated with each other. My parents have had to fight with each one over the design and what they had already paid for as each manager try to charge them more for things that were already included in the original design.

They would promise that there would be crews to work on site and no work would be done for weeks on end. They delayed the project multiple times because they lacked the foresight to order materials for the next stage. They had to redo the tile work because it was so poorly installed. However, most of the delays were just due to nobody working. It is completely mismanaged please save yourself time! The photos are from December 2020. Again, the home is still not finished. I'll keep you posted. They promised this week they would be done end of May. Not looking likely.

We have built several homes in our lifetime. I have to say this experience was our best home building experience ever. From our initial design meeting through the entire build We felt we were part of the family. We had very specific needs as my son is disabled and Design Tech Homes thought of everything to accommodate his special needs. We love our home. Thank you for building our forever home.

FYI, Design Tech built a custom home for us in 2010. We are now, 12 years later, having to redo most of the exterior. They used the wrong nails (they are rusting and popping everywhere) and they lied about using Hardie Board on the exterior. The soffits are cracking and bowing. Upon taking them down, we learned the material was cheap imitation. Overall, the house seemed fine for the first 10 years, and then things started falling apart. If you plan to live in your Design Tech house for over 10 years, then I do not recommend this builder.

We contracted DTH to do a major renovation of our home's interior: essentially the entire downstairs as well as painting the entire house inside and out. The renovation included a complete rebuilding of the living room, kitchen, master bath, powder room, stairs and various other upgrades. DTH did an outstanding job and surpassed our expectations. It took a little longer than expected, but the completed job was of highest quality, conformed to the agreed design plan, and was on budget.

We were particularly impressed with the project manager, Mike Lazenby. He was unfailingly courteous and pleasant to deal with, very knowledgeable, kept the many subcontractors on track, and was very responsive to any questions and concerns that we had.

Design Tech Homes built my home back in 2016. They did a great job! I started experiencing some issues with my master door and the warranty department had a quick turn around and came out to get my door fixed. I would recommend design tech homes 100%!

I went and looked at the model homes and all I can say is wow! They had a range of model homes to look at and the quality of the homes were top notch. I just loved the details in every home I looked at. The sales people were professional and accommodating. They answered all of my questions even though I am not ready to build just yet. I even got a chance to meet Mike, the owner. I found him to be very knowledgable and trustworthy. Once I am ready to build, I will definitely be using Design Tech.

We started the design process with design tech several months ago and I was initially happy with the process. I worked with a specific team however I was unhappy once I received the quote. I gave them a very specific budget at the start and they told me that along the building phase, they would let me know when that budget was in jeopardy. This however did not happen, they let us go through the entire design process then quoted us for a build way over our budget.

We held off a few months and decided to rebid the job with design tech recently and the entire team we worked with originally has been turned over and is no longer with design tech. The new team is non responsive and In experienced. I have have asked to speak to the owner (we spoke early on the process) but the new manager, who has only been there a few months, is the only person to call me back.

He has made excuses that the the owner is too busy to call me so I'm moving on to another builder. So long design tech. I'll spend my money with someone who cares for their customers.

We just closed on our Design Tech home and they have been so easy to work it. They have really made the process is building our dream home fun and less stressful than expected. So far the support has been top notch and I hope to have a similar experience with the actual construction phase. Looking to update my review with stellar reviews regarding the building process in about 8-10 months.

We're currently in the process of building with Design Tech. Overall, my family and I are completely satisfied with the process so far, even though Covid, shortage of workers and delayed deliveries have seemed to slow down the build. The Design Tech team was very helpful from the very beginning. From the initial talks, to pre-design, all the way to construction, every team member has been very helpful.

Everyone that we have worked with has really taken the time to walk us through every stage and answer any questions that we may have had. We are excited to see our finished home and would recommend Design tech to anyone in the market to build on their own land.

Despite some difficulties with meeting the initial 90 day timeline during covid / survey errors and being charged 1% for delays we felt were beyond our control, the house DTH built for us is spectacular in design, quality and especially service after the sale. DTH has repeatedly demonstrated professionalism and a genuine desire to make things right. Thier architect really listened and designed exactly what we wanted - he is highly skilled at ensuring he drew what WE wanted and that we were happy with the house.

Their designer gently guided us without imposing his own tastes. The build quality- especially the foundation and framing quality- was absolutely amazing> I almost wish guests could see the bones of the house without the sheetrock as evidence of the high quality of DTH. Nowhere did DTH need or try to cover sloppy work with caulk or paint like so many other builders around Houston.

They built it right, square and plum so they didn't have to. Lastly, and in my opinion, most importantly, after the sale, DTH spent hours and hours making certain everything big or small was perfect. Thier manager was kind, responsive, professional, helpful and repeatedly went above and beyond to ensure we loved the house. DTH gave us a home we are very proud of.

A few years ago I stopped by because my wife and I were looking for a home, when we got there we were immediately greeted by the staff, and they walked us through the home building process. It was sooooo cool because I feel like in that first hour of our initial consult I knew more about home building then all of my hours of research on google combined.

My wife and I were shopping different builders but design Tech helped us with not only what to watch out for, but how stay within our budget of 480k. So glad I stopped in, literally a life changing experience because now we are living in our house and our first child about to be born! Thought about this today when sitting in our family room and just wanted to say this builder was fantastic.

Many things can be rated in the euphoria or anguish of the moment and not give an accurate picture. This is a retrospective review. I've had five years to think about this one. After all, building a home is a serious venture, especially when building one's forever home. Building a home, a custom home, a home that you helped design, is a trying effort for everyone and it is not easily completed.

I'm glad that we chose Design Tech Homes to help us fulfill our goal of building on our own property, building our dream home. They are personable and professional in every way. When challenges arise, they meet and resolve them. They make suggestions to ensure that you will be pleased in the long run. Change orders, when needed, are handled with promptness and clarity (we only had two).

Every day we are appreciative of the quality of workmanship put into our home -- inside and out. Couldn't be happier, and DTH made it happen. PS: I contacted them recently about the documentation for our fireplace. It was probably the only piece of documentation that I could not locate. True to form, DTH kindly researched and found the original purchase order and was able to give me the model number and emailed the manual to me. What more could one ask?!?!?!

I finished my home in the Woodlands with Design Tech homes a few months ago. The entire time they were extremely accommodating to my questions and any issues that arose during the process were fairly handled. I recently had a small warranty issue with my home and was extremely satisfied that Edgar handled it as soon as I called. My wife and I are very happy with our new home.

I recently completed my home in South Houston with Design Tech Homes and had a great experience. Although building a custom home can be difficult, they were there at every turn to make sure things ran smoothly. My project manager Gabe was always available for questions and was of great help. Would definitely recommend.

After harvey Design Tech Homes came to see our house. Because of budgetary reasons we decided to fix and not tear-down and rebuild from scratch. Design Tech came to our house and charged us $5,000 to gives us the scope of work. i asked for a ball park figure and they said something between $180-$250K. They had a company scan out house so that they could have it as a 3D model.

After a couple of months an many emails without an answer, they came back with an estimate for $466,100.00 to fix a 2,500 sq. ft home! Can you say gauging! worst, no plans, no drawings no nothing. The 3D scan? well you could see the house in ruins on a website but then again, I could see it everyday as my wife and I worked on it everyday after work.

I finally got another contractor and hired many of my own subs to finish the house with much better finished than Design Tech's suggestions for about $200K. I would not ever use these scammers again. Many houses in my neighborhood were rebuilt by them and the works looks ok, nothing great but I am sure they all overpaid for it. I would not ever recommend this people to anyone, EVER! I wish they would just have told me that they weren't interested instead of taking my $5K. Scammers indeed.

Mike, your response to my review is so inaccurate. We have documentation to show we were well within the warranty phase when problems were brought to your attention. Weather related?

We had the chance to work with DTH and had a great experience. Going through Main Street America gave us a good idea about their homes and we were able to go through the process without any major hangups. I'd highly recommend Mike and his team!

TERRIBLE experience! They don't even deserve a one star. They promise the best and you end up getting screwed. The home didn't even get appraised at what they were charging and after they received my down payment of 9k they said it was going to be 30k more for foundation. This would have been nice to know before giving 9k they refused to give back. Beware of their sales tactics and go find yourself a real custom builder like Parker and Kane or Weston Dean.

Drove 3 hours to view their model homes, but was not allowed inside because we were not building for 2 years! Unbelievable! The sales representative, Brian Bromberg, was rude and dismissive, and said it was a waste of his time. Good to know now. We will spend our hard earned $750k elsewhere!

This is what i paid $2,000 for on My design for remodeling, . The shower design, you be the judge, we hated the look and they would not redesign, the Response from Chris McGee was "Most people don't get to see there design in advance and we are fortunate" BUT I PAID TO SEE THE DESIGN iN ADVANCE! White cabinets with a pewter glaze? They do not look white, they look yellow, plus we wanted NO hardware, and that sure looks like hardware and the Rain Shower looks like a regular shower head, I tried contacting the OWNER twice via email, Mike F, he never responded, sadly you be the judge.

I have copies of the emails I sent. We gave them a $50,000 budget, the first bid was $97,000, not even close to reality, i can build a small house for that! I gave them 3 opportunities to fix, they finally gave me a bid and said if i don't sign in 3 days then they would raise my fees by 2%. Even though. there are numerous errors in the bid. The contracted stated "If any disagreements, the contract stands" so I couldn't sign, Even in the final bid, they still had the wrong Granite, a much cheaper tier then what we selected.

No I can't sign that, the Shower heads were still wrong, and I asked for the Shower to to be fixed. DTH requires 100% payment BEFORE they complete the remodel. ( Even thought the disclosure they sent me says I am allowed by state law to do a final review prior to complete payment) We moved our remodel to Post and Lintel, They so far have been amazing, and agree to make all required changes and will be moving forward with them

We chose Design Tech to build our home in 2013 and it was not a very pleasant experience. It took them over a year to finish our home and their was a lot of issues along way. We had two different construction managers through out the build. During 2013 Design Tech took on too many home build projects and the construction managers were spread way to thin and not trained very well.

Some of the trades that Design Tech used during 2013 were not very good, and did not take pride in their work. After we moved into our home we had some major issues with our a/c and heater. We were very concerned with the safety of our home, and we questioned if the inspection that Design Tech promises to do, was really completed on our home. Because gas lines were not ran to our heater and you would think that an inspector would of checked that when the inspection was completed by Design Tech. Mike Feigin did come out to our house and address our concerns and issues. Mr. Feigin was very understanding and helpful.

He did agreed to pay for 3rd party inspection by a company we chose. Design Tech did fix all the items that our 3rd party inspector found wrong but it did take another 6 months to get every corrected properly. We have been living in our home for over 3 years now, and we recently have had to have Design Tech back out to fix a fireplace issue for the 3rd time and a wall issue between the master vanity and shower. JB did come out and readdress these two issues, a week ago.

In looking back at our experience, it was very challenging and stressful, but Design Tech did build us a very beautiful house and they did address all of our issues. It was a learning experience for us, this was our first time to build a home and we learned a lot! I would recommended that you call and talk to several clients that have actually used the builder prior to choosing a builder.

Update: Since the last review I was able to meet with the owner, Mike. He listened to what I had to say and gave positive input. Some issues were resolved. Several weeks later we still didn't have a final plan in hand so I requested that Mike call me. I was at my utmost frustration level and was ready to walk away from this builder and take my losses.

He responded immediately, walked over to Design Manager's (Chad Ballard) office. Chad and I were on the phone for almost 2 hours. As I directed, he made the changes we wanted. He made some great suggestions and was knowledgable on all design aspects. He emailed me the plans within hours and we were ready for build. Since then, Mike has informed me that the company has changed the process and now the customer works directly with a designer when making changes to an existing plan as well as custom plans for build-on-your-lot customers.

I believe had we had access to a designer working on our plans, our experience would have been much better. We are now in the process of building and so far, the contractors have been very accommodating, pleasant and on the ball. As for pricing. we changed many of our selections to the standard option to keep cost down. Their upgrades are expensive but you can build without additional cost t if you stick with standard options. We still have a few hurdles to get over but I'm much happier than I was in the beginning.

They have an entire lot of model homes filled with furniture and appliances. This makes it so much easier to see the home you want as you would set it up. Great for ideas and inspiration and the staff is very helpful. They also have a great restaurant on site that makes some of the best food in the area. I recommend Design Tech to anybody, but especially to first time custom home buyers. They really do make it very easy.

This place is super cool and great prices on Furniture. You have to pay to become a member but then you get a gift certificate to use that is worth more then the cost to join to use within a year so you save money.

We worked almost a year under a signed contract and were making the final edits for field construction. A new project manager cancelled our contract saying the previous signed version was unauthorized (executed by an exec at DTH) and refunded all our payments. Completely unethical corporation. Buyer beware!

I am updating my previous rating. We paid our earnest money in September of 2012. Our construction loan closed in February of 2013. There has been no progress in two weeks. On our last visit to our home site, we noticed that all windows except for 2 are terribly lopsided both in the framing and install. We wonder how long that will set us back. We are now on our 6th construction manager! There are delays with each change over. Do not use DTH in the Austin area. The contractors they use are not quality craftsmen.
