Purchased a ready to finish cabin. I paid extra for over the roof hurricane straps and they weren't installed on the cabin. I was later informed that they might not be offering over the roof hurricane straps anymore or the straps wouldn't work on a 9" overhang. Despite all that, it wasn't communicated, they weren't installed and it's documented clearly that I paid for them.

We had one big rain storm and that's all it took for water to start dripping into the cabin. So glad we didn't spray foam right away! The roof leaked in several areas and water came in around the door. The leak was so bad that the particle board on the roof deck swelled with water. General Shelters offered to make the repairs in a somewhat timely manner. However, without the hurricane straps insurance doesn't consider it a permanent structure, so it sat there uninsured. leaking.

So with all the leaks, not enough warranty and a general lack of trust. I told them to remove the cabin from my property ASAP. And they did. My advice to General Shelters would be to pay closer attention to detail, practice better communication and do things right the first time. A friendly reminder that you advertise in bold letters, " because your building matters." My advice to potential customers ordering these cabins would be to enter with extreme caution!

They spray foam these cabins and rush them out the door to your property. I would be very concerned about small leaks you can't detect right away. Have you read the warranty? Would I do business with General Shelters again? No. Would I recommend General Shelters? No. Was the local dealer awesome? YES!

-edit - 10/30/2020 it was like pulling teeth but I got some photos and screen of other structures as my assembly instructions. I have increased the rating from 1 star to 3. Purchased a single slope car port. Communicatoin very slow and difficult. Multiple days to respond to simle questions via email. I would ask multiple questions but not all questions were answered so itwas very time consuming to get the car port configured and ordered.

I worked ith Derrick Prince, he started off pretty responsive but over the process he became less responsive. I had to call two times to place my order. Maybe they are very busy, but I am not impressed with teh customer service. Try calling on a few occasions and Derrick was available or the office was closed for lunch. I have built metal structures before so when I asked about a self install to save some money I opted for that.

Little did I know no assembly insturctions would be offered. I have asked multiple times for some form of instructions or even photos of an assembled car port and the best response I have gotten was "I will see what I can do." They were cheaper than other metal structure companies out there but I am regretting doing business with them.

DO NOT BY THE CARPORTS! I bought a supposedly better than the competition steel carport from a local dealer in late Feb. of 2020. Bedrock Structures, which is a subsidiary of General Shelters came out and installed it on concrete. Fast forward to the winter storm of 2021, and my carport collapses. Since it is still under warranty, I called asking what my options were.

I was advised that they would not honor the warranty, which came as no surprise. I was advised to claim it on my homeowners policy. I explained that my deductible was considerably more than the cost of the carport. The person I spoke to offered to write me an inflated estimate to cover my deductible and turn in to my insurance (which I think would be insurance fraud).

I said that no, I did not want to do that, as I didn't want to use them again anyway. I asked if there was anything else they could do. He said that because of the high volume of similar complaints, he wasn't sure what they were going to be able to do. He said that he would call me within the week to let me know. He never did, so I called back the next week asking for a partial refund.

He wasn't sure about that, but said they could sell me another one at their cost. I advised him that I did not want their product, and that I wanted at least a partial refund. He said he would have to talk to the owner, and that he would call me back. He did call back, and said they would not be doing any refunds. I was not surprised by any of this.

I was never asking for a full refund or to cover the cost of damage to my truck (which I filed on my auto policy) when the carport collapsed on it. The carports are poorly built. Mine was a 24x25x9 model and I paid extra for 4 posts (2 on each side) in addition to the standard 4 corner posts. However, their is no cross bracing in the middle. It is only supported from side to side on the ends.

Their are 14ga steel purlins or joists that run the length of it (from front to back), but nothing supports these other than being fastened on each end. And on top of that, the ends are only fastened to the corner posts by (4) #6 or #8 self tapping screws. I'm not an engineer, but I do enough of my own around the house maintenance to know this offers little to no weight bearing support for the roof. Hindsight is 20/20 and looking back, I'm almost embarrassed to say I didn't see this coming.

I realize this was an unusual event for our area, but they should have withstood it better. Most of the "cheaper" ones that I bypassed to get this supposedly better built one were still standing. Even the model carport that I was shown at the dealer where I purchased mine from had collapsed. Very poorly constructed with no warranty support.

I would not recommend this company due to the fact their installation service brought out 2 people the first day 1 person the second day and he worked until 2pm, then 1 came back on Monday until 11ish and now there are 2. I will edit comment when they finish.

Very unprofessional experience. Complete lack of attention to detail even providing a quote. I can't believe they are still in business. Thank goodness we found out before putting money down on one of their cabins.

Worst communication from a company I have ever experienced. Ordered building early October 2020. were told 7 weeks. Called at 5 weeks to let them know concrete slab have been poured. They were un able to give me up dated time line. Just that it was in production. Called again at week 7. Was told building was done and they would call to schedule by end of week.

No call received. Called again at week 9. Left message. Message not returned. Called again week 11 was told they are waiting for a roll up door and would check on status and call back. No call back called again week 13. Same story waiting for a roll up door and would look into it and call back. Surprise surprise. No call back at end of week. Not sure how these people stay in business. It has now been 14 weeks and still they can not get a standard 10'x14' roll up door. And or communicate with customer.

WE bought a 10 x 16 storage building, to be delivered. Delivery was extended due to bad weather in the area to June 29th. It was delivered by a subcontractor out of Ore TX set to by the sales office in Winnsboro, TX. The truck drivers let us know that there is damage to the building and that they picked it up that way from the lot in Winnsboro. They took photos to verify this fact.

We have been in contact with the local office here in Winnsboro multiple times, even gone to the office to get some resolution to the situation. I have now called the office in Center, TX twice with no resolution. I sent photos to their service email address. The truck drivers also sent photos somewhere but no one seems to know what happened to them.

Until I get my building repaired or replaced, at no cost to me, I will not authorize payments to the company for goods not delivered. I have authorized my bank to hold any payments.

Started procedure to purchase in June, took nearly 2 months to get paperwork in order. Delivered cabin September 13, 2019. Damaged cabin upon delivery, then did not complete set up, after requesting them to complete it and sending in repairs needed, I had to call them two weeks later to get cabin finished. Sent a tech out and he did not have the proper tools to complete.

Left without a word leaving the A/c hanging in the window unsecured with gasps letting rain in. Had to call service department again and was told they can't finish set up for another week, in the mean time the first payment was made yet it still can not be lived in. Worst communication we ever experienced. Will never purchase from this company again. I do not recommend then to anyone.

My cabin was delivered yesterday and it is absolutely gorgeous! The entire purchase process was easy and pleasant. We visited the plant in Center several times before making a decision to buy one, and each time, they happily guided us through the area where the cabins are built so we could see for ourselves the quality of them. Currently, the crew is putting the finishing touches on the cabin, and they have been professional and detail oriented. Our dealer in Madisonville is equally amazing. He even came out to our property during delivery to ensure that we were satisfied.

14x20 building delivered, appears to be well made. Only concern is no tie downs. Setup crew said they are not needed. I find this strange, but being new to Texas, I assume they know what they are doing. In Florida they require a minimum of 6 tie downs.but they have hurricanes to deal with there.so my concern may be unwarranted.
