I began working as a construction laborer in the summer of 1962 and liked it, so I worked every summer and decide to go to Clemson's School of Building Construction. After graduation I was a field superintendent for 5 years. In 1975 My wife and I started Gilbert Construction Co. We built spec houses for approximately 5 years and made the transition to commercial construction in about 1980.
