Absolutely horrible experience. 800 square foot house in a historic district. Were quoted a price of approx $65,000 (sixty five thousand) for a complete brick restoration, inside and out. Staat ended up doing less than half the job for that amount. They were supposed to furnish all materials, to include historic brick that matched the existing brick. Ended up taking brick from the inside of the building.

They rebuilt one chimney three times. They tried to pull a fast one by using non historic brick figuring we wouldn't notice, thankfully we did. They used mortar sand that they knew they didn't have enough of to finish the job and now we can't find a match to finish the job. They showed up without a brick saw. They were supposed to come back and color up some of the brick. Needless to say that never happened.

They did work on another building in the historic district that the preservation commission has stated "they have changed the character of the building by carving the brick mortar lines too wide". Needless to say, Staat doesn't return phone calls to try to help us. We are now finding out that we were way over-charged for the work that they actually accomplished.

Buyer beware of this company. Bait and switch at its practiced best. UPDATE. Found out last Thursday that the mortar mix that Staat used was too hard for our building's 200 year old soft brick and that the whole building should be repointed so that the old brick isn't compromised. Note we are already experiencing problems with some of the brick spalling.

We obviously can't afford to have it repointed. That means that one of the oldest buildings in the state is now at risk because of Staat's inferior workmanship. I will be bringing this to the historic preservation commission's attention in the hope that other owners of historic properties don't get fooled by this company and put their buildings at risk.

As an additional note, we have also found out that there were issues with Staat when they worked on yet another historic restoration in our city. From a preservation standpoint of historic landmark properties, what this company has done is sickening and inexcusable.

This guy may do great tuckpointing but he's a bit of a butthole. He comes barreling through the school zone Kingshighway and Gravois at the time school is starting and begins honking his horn at the parents that are trying to get in and out of the loading zone with their kids, even pulls up next to a guy in another truck starts cursing giving him the finger because the guy is trying to turn into gate to get his kid in the school.

What a butthole but he does it in his work truck with his name and phone number on the side so the principal standing there shaking her head writing down his phone number and calling the police. Parents and teachers are looking at him like he's mad man. Too going on at ours schools already. Not saying don't use him but do give it some thought if he has to be near your kids. I'm shaking my head saying wow!
