I like going to Homearama to get some new ideas for home improvements or new furniture. They usually have the builder, builder supply companies, and furniture companies at these locations for questions. If not their business cards or information is usually provided. Tickets usually run around $10. As we walked up to one of the homes, I remember looking at the outside and saying, "hmm this one reminds me of a place Harry Potter would live".

When we walked inside I was surprised to be right with that comment. It was Harry Potterish and more! The diningroom wall was covered with a colorful flower display, with what looked like hidden dragons slithering around the flowers. The dining chairs were cushioned with fur. The house theme continued with a gothic feel, and interesting sculptures were found throughout the home.

Your eyes couldn't help but to go in every direction. Another home we saw was great on design, but lacked colors. The colors were so plain and dull with ivory tones and wood shades. But then when you walked out on the deck, the table outside was decorated with bright pink flowers. It just seemed so out of place, and wished they would of brought some of that color into the home.

Even though I can appreciate the creativity, I honestly think the previous year's events had more impressive home showcases. It was still fun to walk around and see the different homes. We will see what next year has in store.

Homearama Louisville was a nice event this year, as usual. I always see some of the most unique designs, interior and sometimes exterior. We got a welcome lift on the golf cart while making the trek, from a very nice driver. Some of the greeters were very pleasant, while others were so-so. I like that there were various giveaways to enter. Parking was ok. Make sure you wear walking shoes! A home like #8 is soon to be mine. I feel it!

The houses were big and expensive. House #4 was $1.4M, it was fancy inside, but way over the top with the kids' treehouse and dollhouse. Homearama would have been more enjoyable with smaller crowds and cooler temps. Overall, I liked house #10 the best with its nautical theme and light colors inside. It was $1.2M, but the basement was unfinished, unlike the rest that had gyms, movie theaters, bars, and bedrooms downstairs. I liked the homes with the fountains out front.
