We are a design company that specializes in developing custom home designs and house plans to best suit your lifestyle. We also have various stock plans available for you to review and you can make any necessary changes to those stock plans to fit your personal needs. Dan Degre (owner and designer) has more than 30 years of experience and has been designing homes in the Moore County area for over 15 years. From simple homes to the most luxurious homes, he can custom design your home to fit within your budget.
Step One Design has been building homes in the Pinehurst, Moore County area for over 10 years. Dan Degre, President of Step One Design, is committed to building custom homes with a high percentage of customer participation in both the design and construction of their home. We believe that today's custom homes must meet a higher standard than those of the past by constantly evaluating new technologies that are available and by staying current with newly available building products.We fully support and are certified in the growing trend toward environmentally friendly green building.
We worked with Step-One Design-Build in 2003-2004 to build our new home in Pinewild. Dan Degre immediately grasped what we were trying to achieve and pulled our ideas into blueprints that were nearly perfect in the first pass. As we were not living locally during the building process, effective communication was critical.

We are so thrilled with our recently remodeled kitchen by Step One Design. Dan was so patient and helpful with the design process and worked hard to deliver what we asked for within our budget. His craftsmen are so professional and pleasant to work with. Every tradesman that came into our home was outstanding. Everybody cleaned up, informed me of the process, and performed their jobs magnificently. The final product is beyond our expectations.

The owners, Lori and Dan, are great to work with. This design and build company does everything from house plans to final inspections. They also do great work, as is evidenced by the number of 'houses of the year' awards their clients have won. I would highly recommend them for your building needs in the Pinehurst and Moore County area.

This was the first home we built and Step One Design was very helpful in walking us through the lengthy process. They were able to assist us with everything from designing the custom floor plan to which paint would look best on the ceiling. Step One Design made the home building process a pleasant experience and we look forward to our future in the home.
