In 1991, Simpson started Debco Construction with two friends (that he bought out about a year later) and his life savings of $20,000. In the beginning, his contract jobs were mostly small utility jobs in the region, and gradually, they expanded the list of services and their territory. Today, Debco, based in Orofino, employs about 70 people during the busy season and several full-time year-around employees.

Crews break ground on mixed-use development with student housing, almuni condos and retail next to WSU golf course. The development is slated for nearly 19 acres at the corner of Terre View Drive and Fairway Road. University Crossing will include 528 units of apartments and townhomes as well as mixed-use retail space.

The Debco Construction Undergraduate Scholarship Program was established in 2009 to build relationships with the local communities by assisting deserving young people in their pursuit of higher education. Subject to the discretion of the Company Award Committee, awards are renewable annually. Awards for graduate studies are not provided.
